Statistician

Wen Wan, PhD, is a statistician in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Chicago. With formal education and training in both Statistics and Medical Sciences, Dr. Wan’s research interests focus on developing and applying statistical methodologies to medical sciences. Her main role for the Chicago Center for Diabetes Translation Research is to work with core investigators in biostatistics, including assisting study design, helping to calculate sample size and power, developing a statistical analysis plan, assisting in constructing a database, generating a stratified randomization list, performing data management and analysis, interpreting statistical results, and helping to write manuscripts. Dr. Wan has been working for ten years for various clinical studies including diabetes and has published more than 45 papers. She has received ten grant awards, including four R01s from the National Institutes of Health, and has been working for multiple diabetes-related clinical trials for two years. She received her MD from Shangdong Medical University in Jinan, China in 1998 and a PhD in Statistics from Virginia Tech in 2007.
